Do you remember the last you went to a dinner and spend the entire time having a conversation to someone without checking at your phone even once, or ate something delicious without photographing the dish, or go to a concert and not record the whole show? No matter the benefits it’s gives us today, the spirit of connecting with someone is now lost. Earlier in time, getting someone’s phone number was such a privilege, you didn’t have to feel bad about not answering a call, or trying to ignore it because nobody was so attached to their phones to feel obliged to answer it any moment.
Probably one of the things I like the most being cellphone- free is the fact that you can go anywhere and do anything without having people calling to ask about all the details that you would later on explain it in person. You’re just there roaming around the city having no idea what time it is, what other people are doing, or where to go. It’s just you, mind-free, exploring all the possibilities you can while not being interrupted by anyone.
As much as we think that internet is bringing the world closer to us, it’s actually taking it away. Maybe instead of asking google about something we don’t know, why not try asking someone close to us? Instead of texting to get to know someone, why not meet face to face and let your energy connect you? There are so many examples that everyone of us should try to get away from the cyborg world and experience the real one, just to notice the difference.
