With the advance of technology and science, people are doing they’re best to use that for their benefit. There are different kinds of robots today that gather valuable data about costumers in order to increase the costumer service. The latest robot to enter our lives is the one created by The Mars Inc. candy company developed at a ShopRite in New York.
Called “Smiley”, this robot follows people as they’re shopping in order to tempt them to buy candy. This robot comes compatible with powerful sensors that help it get around the store and reach potential candy buyers. It is programmed to ‘trick’ people to buy candy. Smiley roams the store, using self drive technology to detect people or objects nearby him. Besides selling candy, this robot is also programmed to gather data about the way costumers interact around the store, which product they’re interested more. This way the store owner are able to create a better shopping experience for costumers and sell more products as a result.
So far, Mars company has released only one Smiley for testing, but if this turns out successful there will be smileys in every shop of the United States and maybe even throughout the world as well.
