Denis Cherim, a professional photographer, has a talent for capturing the coincidences that happen around us every day. From his high school days, he pursued photography and has continued to produce amazing work since then. Earthwonders recently interviewed him about his art.
Cherim shared that he followed the advice of a fellow photographer to try everything to find his place. He worked on different projects, but he feels the freest when he is alone with his camera, wandering around. He discovered that photography was the perfect tool to tell a story about his thoughts, doubts, emotions, and how he perceives the world we live in.

His Coincidence Project was born out of his career journey working on different projects. The idea behind this project was inspired by the year 2012 when the world was supposed to end. For Cherim, the world ended as he knew it, and his perception of everything changed. He developed the Coincidence Project to capture the unity he was experiencing in his photographs.
Cherim realized that there are universal rules that apply to all of us. He uses photography to discover and understand those rules. His goal is to communicate with people through his photos and show them that the world is much more than what we see at first sight. His hope is to inspire people to rediscover their surroundings because coincidences are everywhere.
Cherim believes that as a society, we tend to polarize each fact, trying to understand the meaning of the whole by breaking it into small parts we already know everything about. He wants to show that, as Gestaltism stands, the whole is much more than the sum of its parts.
To capture these coincidental moments, one has to be in the right place at the right time or be a very good observer like Cherim. He enjoys wandering around and riding his bicycle, always with his camera in hand and his eyes wide open for anything. Cherim finds beauty in banal corners or scenes worth appreciating.
