According to Lainey, the pressure on women comes from internal and external sources, such as family, media, and societal expectations. As a result, navigating these expectations and meeting society’s milestones can be incredibly challenging. From maintaining the “perfect” size and shape to balancing maternal instincts with ambition, women are often forced to be both strong and sensitive while gracefully accepting the aging process.
Lainey’s comics offer a refreshing perspective on these issues, shedding light on the struggles that women face while encouraging them to embrace their unique identities and reject societal norms. Through her work, Lainey hopes to create a community where women can support each other and feel empowered to be their authentic selves.

The artist shared with Bored Panda about her creative process, stating that she maintains an extensive list of illustration ideas on her phone that spans miles and miles. She often wakes up in the middle of the night to jot down new ideas and takes notes whenever she encounters something inspiring.
When it’s time to create, she peruses her list and selects an idea that resonates with her. Her preferred medium is digital, and she creates on an iPad. While she occasionally watches TV shows while drawing, she prefers to establish a specific ambiance with candles, incense, and music, believing that the vibes and emotions can influence the artwork.
Through her dedicated and intentional approach to her craft, this artist brings her creative ideas to life and inspires others to do the same.
Lainey was asked if she has any personal favorite illustrations, and she revealed that her favorite is the one where she compares the struggles of someone with physical health issues to someone with mental health issues. She explained that this particular illustration is deeply personal to her because she battled with her own mental health for 18 years.
Lainey recognizes the challenges of living with invisible illnesses that people around us may dismiss. While she often tackles female empowerment topics in a straightforward or humorous manner, she believes it’s essential to address stigmatized topics because it provides comfort to know that we’re not alone in our struggles. As a result, she uses her artistic abilities to shed light on important issues and empower those who may feel marginalized or isolated.
When it comes to experiencing a creative block, Lainey is grateful to say that she hasn’t had to deal with it much. In fact, she feels that she has an abundance of ideas and thoughts to convey. Lainey believes that in an ideal world, many of the issues she addresses through her art would be widely understood and accepted. However, since society is not quite there yet, she doesn’t mind revisiting the same topics repeatedly through a visual medium.
Lainey finds it rewarding to receive positive feedback for her work, especially since her art touches on subjects that aren’t often discussed on social media. She sees this as an endless source of motivation and continues to use her talent to create meaningful and impactful illustrations.
According to Lainey, her inspiration comes from various artists, such as Adam Ellis, Tiny Moron, and Wowocomics. She believes that despite their diverse styles and sense of humor, the most essential aspect of art is the artist’s personality that shines through their work.
Lainey thinks that every unique creator has their own perspective on the world, and it’s not necessarily about having technical skills like mastering anatomy or shading, but rather the vision and purpose behind their creations that are crucial.
